Preserving one of the best-known pieces of Scottish heritage, the Scottish Tartans Museum holds a collection of some 500 distinct tartan patterns as well as an online database of more than 4,000 different designs. Mannequins display the forms of tartan dress worn over the centuries, including many variations of the Highland kilt. Those with Scottish ancestry can find information about their family tartan and even possibly find other relations. Located in downtown Franklin, the Main Street shop is close to the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum.
